StepCap is a Chrome extension that helps you turn a sequence of clicks into a numbered, illustrated how-to guide. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your data.

What StepCap stores

When you record a guide, StepCap captures screenshots of the browser tab you are recording and the text labels of the elements you click. This information is saved only on your own computer, inside your browser's local extension storage. It is used to build and display your guide and to export it as a PDF.

What StepCap does not do

• It does not send your screenshots, clicks, or guides to any server.
• It does not collect, transmit, or sell personal information.
• It does not track your browsing activity.
• It does not use analytics or advertising.

Permissions

StepCap requests the minimum permissions needed to work:

• activeTab / tabs — to capture a screenshot of the tab you are recording, when you ask it to record.
• storage — to save your in-progress guide on your device so it is not lost between pages.

Your control

You can delete a guide at any time using the “Clear” button in the extension, or by removing the extension, which erases all locally stored data.
